Split the players into two equal teams. Distribute the players from each team such that there is one player per team at each base and the remaining players spaced at equal distances between the two bases. Allocate each team a different ‘message starting base’.

Give the first player at each base a scrap of paper with a message, the length of which depends on the age range of the players.

Player 1, at the base, has a predetermined amount of time to memorise the message (say 30 seconds), go to Player 2 and to whisper it once.

Player 2 must then go to Player 3, whisper the message and then return to the starting spot. As soon as Player 2 is back in their start position, Player 1 can be given the next message and another 30 seconds.

Player three goes to player four and so on, until the message gets to the end of the line, where the final player writes down what they heard.
