| [13] Rockets & Interceptors |
| ||||||||||||||
This is played by two teams. The attacking team are called the rockets and the defending team are called the interceptors. As base is selected and one or more buckets/tins placed adjacent to its wall(s) to be the targets. The other base is the ammunition supply. Depending on game time/number of plays a quantity of ‘hits’ is decided upon to ‘destroy’ the target. A hit is counted when payload is deposited in the target. An exclusion zone is defined around the base (2-5 meters depending on age range of players). A circle of rice or flour works well, but may need to be refreshed from time to time, alternatively cones or rope can be used, but extra care should be taken against trip hazards. Only the attacking rockets are allowed to go inside the exclusion zone. The number of defending interceptors in the immediate vicinity of the exclusion zone should be limited to no more that twice the number of targets (buckets) deployed. Each rocket can carry only one item of payload to the target area. If a rocket is tagged by an interceptor before going inside the target area, they must hand over their payload and return to their base. The payload can be launched (thrown) from outside the target area, but the chances of a ‘hit’ is much reduced. If the interceptor target area is not destroyed after 20 minutes then change over the teams so that everyone has a turn at attacking and defending. This game is best played where there is a bit of cover for hiding and creeping up on the target, or at night when visibility is reduced. | |||||||||||||||
