Just a quick note of thanks to you and all the Oaks staff from all the Castle Donington Leaders and boys following our latest camp on 27th / 28th and 29th of June. Once again an Excellent weekend (though tiring) enjoyed by all with even the damp start on Friday night being unable to spoil things. The feedback from the boys and their parents has been excellent and nothing but complimentary. Looking forward to seeing you all again late November. Many thanks, keep up the good work

I was at the Space Camp as part of the SE District Team and would like to thank the Oak`s staff for all the hard work they put in before, during and after the event. I have been to a number of Cub Scout Challenge Camps at Oaks in earlier years as a CSL but I enjoyed this latest camp even more than the others. Again, many thanks to all concerned for a superb camp.

Just a brief note to let you know how much everyone enjoyed our Group Camp last weekend. It was the largest one we had done and everyone agreed it was the best so far. This was helped in no small part by the helpfulness and friendliness of Jeff and the other site staff. I was particularly indebted to Jeff for his willing assistance with putting up our marquee! Everyone else we came across over the weekend were also a credit to the team. Our Cubs and Scouts were full of praise for the fun they had on the activities - I was also impressed with the levels of safety I saw exercised with all of the activities. All round a great weekend (even the weather co-operated) and an excellent performance by the whole service team. On behalf of the whole Group - thank you all.

Following Gemini ESU`s overnight stay at Oaks last week, I feel I have to drop you a line to say how really friendly, helpful and accommodating the camp staff were to us. It was so much more friendly than other sites I have visited (except perhaps for the last time I visited Oaks - some 18 - 20 years ago - but I don`t remember too much that far back !). In particular, I was impressed that they had been briefed and remembered that our Explorers needed to camp independently away from the leaders as part of their D of E Expedition. Some of the boys and girls have already expressed a wish to return for a week end activity camp in the Autumn. If we can rally enough support, it looks like we may be looking to come back soon !. Please pass on our thanks to the duty staff.

Just a note to say thank you for letting us have the use of your site last weekend and to say how much the "scouts" enjoyed themselves. Can you particularly thank your climbing and archery instructors for their patience shown to those youngsters who were climbing and taking part in the archery for the first time. The first comment of two cubs who travelled back in my car was "when can we go camping again?" which is really what it is all about. With best wishes and we hope you have a good summer season. PS. I don`t know how you managed to arrange the Red Arrows fly past just as we were going to invest a new cub, but it certainly impressed the Cubs!. |
