Brownie Camping

The observant will spot that this page is similar to the Cub camping page, well it’s not that different; Brownies have been camping at the Oaks since 1992, which was the first Brownie camp in Leicestershire. To make things easier the local Pack Holiday Advisor can be found serving in the site shop and Warden – Lesley Mitchell is Leicestershire’s County Brownie Camping Advisor.

The main pack holiday building is the Clarke Hut but for camping the Alpine Hut is ideal. The hut offers a basic building, but with a kitchen area. This area has been designed to segregate the cooking from the main area of the building and has a four ring gas cooker with oven and Grill, an electric boiler for hot water, stainless steel sing with cold water, fridge and ample storage space for your food and cooking equipment.

It is also equipped with benches, chairs and seating for 30+. The building is used with the adjacent camping site and makes it ideal for Brownie camping.

The Alpine Hut is situated at the edge of the woodland and is separated from the camping field by a dry stonewall.

There is no need to bring a mess tent or marquees or loads of tables, benches etc. You can cook, eat and use the building for quite activities, but have the sleeping tents out on the field.

Should the weather turn bad, then the building is suitable for emergency accommodation.

Toilets and that stuff.

	Both male and female toilets are situated a short walk from the Alpine hut. The path is well lit at night
	Both facilities have hot running water to the sinks. Hot showers are also provided (10p or 20p Coin)
	The site has toilets and a shower facility for wheel chair users, whilst there is reasonable access to the alpine hut it, may not be suitable for all wheelchairs.
