Widegames

Developed and designed by young people, there are two bases now at the top end of the woods, above the Chapel ready to become space ships, castles, lairs, HQs as any theme dictates.

To go along with the bases we’ve had a go at writing up a number of common wide games that we’ve used or seen over the years. We’ve also suggested day/night suitability, duration and section age range (Rainbow/Beaver, Brownie/Cub etc). These are only recommendations so feel free to use/adapt in any way which you think suites your group.

A number rely on ‘lifes/tags’, these can be cotton, coloured paper etc and/or require some additional accessories. We’ve tried to identify what is needed for each game. We do ask that where possible, biodegradable stuff is used and that a tidy-up is done after each game. These are available on site from the Duty Warden, “Runners” is a sample of one of those games
The runners are issued with scraps of paper which they must not lose. Chasers will mark a ‘Gotcha’ style spot on their scrap of paper to indicate a runner has been caught/tagged. Once a runner has been caught three the must return to the base for an additional scrap of paper.
